Special Hobby 1/48 SG-38 "German and Slovak Service" Plastic Model Kit

The DFS 38 Schulgleiter was a German high-wing training glider from the interwar period and World War II. The prototype flight took place in 1938. The length of this aircraft was 6.28 meters with a wingspan of 10.41 meters and a height of 2.43 meters. The weight of the empty sailplane was 100 kilograms, and the maximum speed was up to 110 km / h.

The DFS 38 Schulgleiter was designed by three German designers: Schneider, Rehberg and Hofmann for Edmund Schneider's factory in Grunau. The glider turned out to be a very successful design, also characterized by low production costs and its low complexity. The production of this glider was relatively quickly started by other entities, and a total of approx. 10,000 aircraft of this type were created! The glider became the basic training glider of the Nazi NSFK organization and was used on a very large scale to train Luftwaffe pilots. The glider was also operated after 1945 in many other countries, including France and Czechoslovakia, where it was called SK38 Komar.
