I'm sure there's books around on the hardest subject in modelling, weathering and photoetch , it has the power to go from above average to a hit out of the park ! This book takes some of the dark side of painting small crew to making the onboard aircraft look like it's ready to fly. The subjects HMS Royal Oak at RN Base Scarpa Flow and Gunther Prien's U47 that delivered one of the first slaps in the face of the British Navy . The techniques are explanded in an easy to understand way and if you get a bit lost the photos will fill in the gaps and the best part they can be applied well to any shipping that has seen alot of sea time , with the sub U47 the tech can apply right up to when the tiles for a reduction in machinery sound are used with weathering on rubber obviously being different to steel . The book is great if you haven't had a go at the subject get the book and have a go it's not easy but it's worth it's weight when you have some direction .
